2011 King Kamehameha Day Parade
The King Kamehameha Day Parade is a wonderful opportunity to see the faces of Hawai`i, with obvious emphasis on Hawaiians. Groups other than Hawaiians join this festive event, of course. What is perhaps not obvious in these shots is that many of the people are riding a horse. This was a photographic challenge. The parade moves by quickly and there are people in front who don't want to get hit by a long, hand-held lens. There was no attempt, either in capturing the photos or in their processing, to capture the feel of the parade. This was simply a chance for me to focus on faces, some flowers, and a few tatoos.
